Diabetes insipidus is an unusual condition (about 1 in 25,000 people are affected) where the body cannot retain enough water. It is very different from diabetes mellitus (sugar diabetes). Because of the difficulty in maintaining a normal fluid balance, it is considered unwise for a person with this condition to be a donor.
