Cardiomyopathy - Tissue - deceased donors

Essential information

Obligatory

1. Eyes:
   Must not donate if:
   1. Associated with extraocular muscle paresis (e.g. Kearns-Sayre syndrome).
   2. Not recovered from infective causes.
      
      
2. Other tissues:
   Must not donate if:
   1. Not recovered from infective causes.
   2. Cardiomyopathy secondary to an infiltrative process (e.g. amyloidosis, sarcoidosis).

Reason for change:

The entry has been changed to make it clear that cardiomyopathy is not an absolute contraindication to donation of cardiovascular tissues.
