- Additional information
-
Individuals who have had cardiac surgery, other than for congenital abnormality, are unlikely to be fit enough to safely have a large volume of blood removed. An individual who has had congenital abnormalities corrected can often lead a normal lifestyle and may be able to give blood safely. If the criteria under Discretionary above are met, the Designated Clinical Support Officer can make a documented decision based on the individual's medical history.
